Stetson's hats are known worldwide. Founder John B. Stetson designed the "10 Gallon Hat" and that proved to be the beginning of the success story of the renowned brand. This renowned hat owed its name to the fact that you could carry as much as 10 gallons (over 37 litres) of water in it.
In any case, it was made of water-resistant felt. And so John killed two birds with one stone: it protected the wearer from the weather and the hat was also handy for carrying water from the spring. John B. Stetson got the idea for this material from his tent, which did not let any water through even in the heaviest rain.
